Though pivoting products to avoid allergens is a strategy that can work, the more lasting magic is really rooted in self-care habits and lifestyle patterns. Every single human in our world has to contend with some degree of environmental toxins—in our air, in our food, and in skincare & makeup products.

An already compromised immune system is even more susceptible to outbreaks and adverse effects to even the most basic and topical applications.

So here’s some food for thought: The gut-skin connection is well documented in scientific and health & wellness research. The appearance and feel of your skin starts with what you eat. Stop Treatments 2 Weeks Before The Wedding

Working with a dermatologist to focus on specific issues, and exploring treatments such as microneedling, peels, and retinols all can be helpful additions to your pre-wedding protocol toolbox.

Certain active ingredients that cause shedding of dead cells and stimulation of new cell growth such as retinoids, hydroxyacids, and certain botanical alternatives can cause peeling. Even if your skin is not currently peeling from these products, they can still cause sensitivity to other ingredients in certain skincare and makeup.

That’s why we recommend and request that you stop using those active ingredients and any products that create a peeling effect at least two weeks before trials and before wedding day, both for application and longevity purposes.

Consider what your true beauty goals are—both in life and for your big day. Most likely, it’s looking and feeling your absolute best, and a thriving ongoing existence manifesting as your healthiest version of self! But looking your best doesn’t always translate into feeling your best if there are problems beneath the surface.
