The Right Bridal Makeup & Hair for an Outdoor Wedding in Colorado, Florida or Arizona
What could be better than an outdoor wedding? An outdoor wedding with potential outdoor variables properly planned and prepared for!
There are several factors to consider when it comes to hair & makeup in the open air (some that may seem obvious, while some not so much) like climate, weather, time of day, and amount of time you’ll be outside.
Given our three-state reach of Colorado, Arizona and Florida, each with very different outdoor atmospheres, we thought it might be helpful to outline a few generalized qualities of the region and some respective hair & makeup suggestions:
Colorado
You know what they say (well, what some say)—rain on your wedding day is good luck. Luckily, in Colorado, showers are usually brief and fleeting, and the clouds, colors, and lighting make for breathtaking photos. Weather apps (and your planner), if you’re not used to the area, are super useful to determine and predict how to best navigate these changes.
The dynamic terrain of the Rockies provides unlimited potential for creativity: first-look pics on the tippy top of the mountain, chairlift cliffhangers, or off-the-beaten-path selfie inspiration. For such rugged jaunts or windblown vistas, you can opt for our artists to trail you wherever you go, or stick around before your ceremony to re-pamper every piece back into perfection.
Arizona
Hot & Dry, Hot & Dry, Hot & Dry!
We strongly recommend bringing a hydrating, refreshing, setting spray to spritz yourself with throughout the day that will bring back the glowy, hydrated look you and your makeup artist worked so hard to lock in.
Florida
Hot & Humid, Hot & Humid, Hot & Humid! If you’re planning a wedding in Miami or Fort Lauderdale, choose a style that can endure you walking around in what feels like a thick mist all day.
For bridal makeup in Florida, many brides choose airbrush foundation, and a slicked-back bun or updo that will hold its style.
For all three states, depending on your specific situation, a parasol or umbrella could be handy, which doubles as protection from sun and rain…or for Arizona & Florida, a hand fan to better regulate your temperature and prevent melting makeup! In addition, because all three are known for beautifully bright but harshly shining sun, consider a fast absorbing matte finish sunscreen or invisible gel SPF.
While we do provide a touchup kit that includes a few miscellaneous items to keep you going strong after our artists leave, it’s a good idea to bring along an additional bridal “emergency kit” with, for example, extra bobby pins, safety pins, hair spray, and anything else you might need in a pinch for an unexpected twist of outdoor fate.
Hint, hint—All of these “extras” are great for your maid of honor to take care of for you, having them on the ready when & if the moment arises.
From the mountains to the desert to the beach, we cover it all and we got you covered along with it!
