The timing for when to book your beauty team is more complex and nuanced than it might at first seem. We at Divine Beauty Artists, your trusted makeup artists and hair stylists in Breckenridge, CO, get the full range, from a couple of months out from your big day to up to two years away!
To be honest, it makes no difference to us. We’re ready to get you on our calendar whenever you are. But there are a few factors that may in fact matter a lot more to you.
We have some pointers that might help!
First of all, hold onto this mantra as we go: It’s never too early, not always too late; but when in doubt, reach out!
With a large roster of artists, we can usually make your timing work but we can’t promise availability for every date or every need. Our artists are highly coveted, so we always recommend reaching out sooner rather than later.
Your Own Planning Process Is a Huge Piece of the Puzzle
- Is this a multi-generational merging of families that requires thinking through every single detail years in advance?
- How long have you been engaged?
- How many people in your bridal party will need hair & makeup services? Any additional family members being beautified?
- Are you marrying your high school sweetheart with whom you’ve been dreaming of this day since you were kids and already know what you want?
- Are you eloping next month?
- Are the logistics not as important as getting down the aisle to say “I do” but you still want a glam team to doll you up?
- What other vendors are you working with and what’s the timeline for solidifying their services?
Of course it’s up to you, but we tend to think hair & makeup is one of the most important aspects of your big day because it’s YOUR image that will be seen in photos for the rest of your life.
When Should You Book Your Makeup Artists in Breckenridge, CO?
Once all of the above boxes are checked, we recommend that you book with us as soon as you have an idea of how many people need hair and/or makeup so that we can be sure we have enough artists to accommodate the size of your party.
However, knowing that ahead of time can be tricky, so we say go ahead and reserve us for the minimum number of services you have confirmed and then (most likely, if we have artist availability) you can add more as the date gets closer and you firm up the number.
Keep in mind! We have a 6-service minimum per artist, and services are non-cancelable once booked, but each artist can potentially handle up to 9 services (primarily depending on finish time), so…check out this example:
If you have yourself (bride) plus 10 bridesmaids (which is a potential total of 22 services), but don’t yet know who wants what, you could go ahead and book 3 artists at their 6-service minimum (which would lock in 18 services) and confirm more services later up to 22 without having to add more artists.
A Note on Trials
Trials aren’t required — book us a month out, send plenty of inspo pics and a description of your vision, and get ready to be wowed even on short notice! That said, if you do want a trial, more lead time is always better: it gives you a chance to build a rapport with your artist, sit with any tweaks you want to make, and head into your big day feeling completely stress-free.
While we’re on the subject of trials, here are a couple main rules:
- Have your dress (or at least your dress picked out), your hair accessories and/or veil, and a good idea of the hair & makeup style you’re going for (though it doesn’t have to be set in stone; just a general vision).
- The best time to book trials is during “down season.” This varies by state. Colorado down season is November thru April; Florida & Arizona down season is May thru September. You can still do trials while we’re in busy wedding season, but only Monday thru Thursday during that time.
