Sunscreen On Your Wedding Day?
Depending on the location and time of day, the weather, and whether it’s indoors or outdoors, sunscreen may be an important factor to protect your skin on wedding day. And if your wedding is in Denver, Breckenridge or anywhere in Colorado, sunscreen is likely to be a crucial part of your skincare routine.
If you do decide to apply, there are several things to consider when choosing the right sunscreen to go under your bridal makeup for your Colorado wedding.
The Right Kind of Sunscreen
Some sunscreens that are high in zinc and other sun-reflecting minerals can cause “flashback”, a reflective effect that can make your skin look blown out or glaringly white in photos.

If it’s determined to be appropriate for you, we use non-reflective, low white cast sunscreens—clear/gel-like/invisible—that absorb quickly into the skin.

We do highly suggest that you take additional precautions such as purchasing a professional SPF setting spray so that you can continue to reapply it throughout the day (BONUS!! How to Use Sunscreen
It’s important that you understand how the “Sun Protective Factor” number system works. Many people think the higher the number the stronger the protection. This is not true. It’s actually the number of minutes the protection works before needing to reapply (SPF 50 protects for fifty minutes, 35 for thirty-five minutes, etc).
Denver’s mile-high altitude and intense UV index mean the large majority of our brides do opt for sunscreen under their Denver wedding makeup, especially if any portion of your wedding day is outdoors and/or during the daytime. But it is still best practice to talk with your professional makeup artist in Denver behind the scenes to dial it in and iron out any questions that you might have so that your skin is protected and shining its bridal beauty best!
